The Shenandoah Valley Choral Society is a non-audition choral group of choral music lovers who sings for the joy of singing. We welcome anyone who wishes to participate. While the active membership for each concert ranges from 70 to 125 singers, some 400 singers in the Shenandoah Valley have participated with the Choral Society and return periodically to sing with us. Rehearsals during the concert season are held every Tuesday, 7:30-9:30 pm at Park View Mennonite Church, 1600 College Avenue, Harrisonburg. Interested observers and potential singers are welcome.

It all began when the Shenandoah Valley Music Festival Orchestra asked that a local chorus be recruited to perform Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with the Symphony at Orkney Spring in the summer of 1970. The participants in that concert decided to form a permanent group and the Shenandoah Valley Choral Society was formed.

As a non-profit corporation, the Shenandoah Valley Choral Society is governed by a member-elected Board of Directors. The Board is responsible for all financial, organizational and administrative matters relating to the activities of the Society, including employment of personnel. It operates under a strict set of by-laws and Articles of Incorporation.

The Shenandoah Valley Choral Society performs a wide variety of vocal music, from patriotic and show tunes, to religious, classical and operatic music.
